Two day itinerary 

Day 1: San Diego to Laguna Beach (Approx. 80 miles)

  1. Start in San Diego, California
    - Visit La Jolla Cove: Enjoy the stunning views, walk along the coast, and explore the tide pools.
    - Optional: Stop at the Birch Aquarium for marine life exhibits and educational programs.
  2. Head north to Carlsbad (Approx. 35 miles)
    - Visit Carlsbad State Beach: Relax on the beach or take a stroll on the seawall.
    - Check out the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch (seasonal attraction, open from March to early May)
  3. Continue north to Oceanside (Approx. 10 miles)
    - Visit Oceanside Pier and Harbour Beach: Take a walk on the pier and enjoy the harbour's shops and restaurants.
  4. Drive further north to San Clemente (Approx. 20 miles)
    - Visit San Clemente State Beach: Enjoy a picnic, explore the tide pools, or go for a swim.
  5. End the day in Laguna Beach (Approx. 15 miles)
    - Explore the picturesque downtown area, art galleries, and local shops.
    - Relax on Main Beach, or visit other nearby beaches like Crescent Bay or Thousand Steps Beach.
    - Overnight in Laguna Beach: Choose from a variety of accommodations, from boutique hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts.

 

Day 2: Laguna Beach to Malibu (Approx. 80 miles)

  1. Start the day in Laguna Beach
    - Enjoy breakfast at a local café or bakery.
  2. Drive north to Newport Beach (Approx. 15 miles)
    - Visit Balboa Peninsula and Balboa Island: Take a walk on the boardwalk, rent bikes, or go for a harbour cruise.
  3. Continue north to Huntington Beach (Approx. 10 miles)
    - Visit Huntington Beach Pier and Main Street: Enjoy the beach vibe, shops, and restaurants.
    - Optional: Stop at the International Surfing Museum to learn about the history of surfing.
  4. Drive further north to Long Beach (Approx. 20 miles)
    - Visit the Queen Mary: Explore the historic ocean liner and learn about its fascinating history.
    - Walk around Shoreline Village, a shopping and dining destination by the waterfront.
  5. Head to Santa Monica (Approx. 30 miles)

  6. End the road trip in Malibu (Approx. 10 miles)
    - Relax on Zuma Beach or explore the scenic El Matador State Beach.
